Rubio will be absent from the meeting/ NATO Chief Rutte: He has a busy agenda, we continue the talks in Moscow

NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte dismissed fresh concerns about the United States' commitment to the military organization on the eve of a meeting of allied foreign ministers focused on Russia's war against Ukraine.

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio will not attend Wednesday's meeting, which will take place during negotiations in Moscow and Europe on the future of Ukraine.

Speaking to reporters before the meeting, Rutte underlined that Rubio has a busy agenda.

"He is working extremely hard to take care of not only the Ukraine situation, but of course many other issues that are in his hands. So I fully accept that he will not be able to be here tomorrow and I would not read anything into it," Rutte said.

Rutte's comments come after President Donald Trump's 28-point proposal to end the almost four-year war in Ukraine.
