EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas said today that the EU is working to identify what has not worked in the stalled EU-mediated dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia, now that the European Union has appointed a new mediator. Kallas made her statements at a joint press conference with Prime Minister Edi Rama at today's meeting in Tirana.

"This is an ongoing process. We have a new EU Special Representative for the Belgrade-Pristina Dialogue and we will sit down with him to assess what is working and what is not. Without normalization, neither of them can continue their European path," Kallas said.

Kallas, who avoided Kosovo and Serbia on her first tour of the region as EU foreign policy chief, said that the normalization process in the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue is crucial for their path towards EU integration.

Kallas stressed that for the EU, the normalization of relations between Kosovo and Serbia is important.

The High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaja Kallas, is conducting a 2-day visit, from April 7 to 9, to several countries in the Western Balkans. /CNA
