The Kurti-Vucic meeting in Brussels fails/ The reasons become clear
Albin Kurti and Josep Borrell

The next meeting in Brussels between Prime Minister Albin Kurti and President of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic has failed.

Kurti presented three conditions for further engagement in the process of normalization of Kosovo-Serbia relations.

The head of the EU's foreign policy, Josep Borrell, said that Kosovo was not ready for a tripartite meeting.

"First, the formalization of the basic agreement through the signature by the leaders of the respective states and governments. Secondly, the withdrawal of the letter officially submitted to the EU by former (Serbian) Prime Minister Ana Bërnabiç, dated December 13, 2023. And thirdly, the handing over of Milan Radojçiç and his paramilitary-terrorist group to the judicial authorities of Kosovo. Kurt's three conditions.

On the other hand, Serbia has expressed that it was not ready to meet the conditions of Kosovo.

The Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, said that he has asked for guarantees of good faith and goodwill.

"We consider that the basic agreement and the implementation annex are a distinguished achievement in the foreign policy of the Republic of Kosovo, for good neighborly relations, with our northern neighbor, with at least de-facto recognition in the center, but it is also an achievement of The European Union, which has mediated entire rounds of this dialogue", said Prime Minister Kurti.

On the other hand, the President of Serbia, Aleksadër Vu?i?, said that Kurti was the one who did not want to meet with him.

Vucic has stated that Prime Minister Kurti wants Serbia to recognize Kosovo and now he has come up with several other demands that are basically a "de jure" recognition of Kosovo./ CNA
