Session to constitute Kosovo Assembly fails for the 19th time

The Kosovo Assembly has failed to be constituted for the 19th time in a row today, three months after the parliamentary elections held on February 9. Although there have been calls for an institutional unblocking, no consensus has been reached by the political parties on the election of the Speaker of the Assembly as of today's session.

The winning party of the elections, the Vetevendosje Movement, has continued to nominate Albulena Haxhiu for the post of Speaker of Parliament, but without sufficient support from other parties. As suggested by the media in Kosovo, the Vetevendosje Movement will not give up on Haxhiu's name for the high post in the Assembly.

The three main parties: PDK, LDK and AAK have refused to cast their votes on this proposal, seeking a name acceptable to all parties.
