Denmark will deport immigrants who are sentenced to prison

Denmark has announced the adoption of a tougher approach to immigrants convicted of crimes, providing for their automatic deportation after completing their prison sentences.

The decision is part of a new government strategy to increase public safety and address growing concerns about criminality among some immigrant groups.

The Minister of Emigration, Kaare Bek, stated: "Foreigners are overrepresented in crime statistics and often commit serious crimes, such as gang crimes. We cannot tolerate such a situation because it harms the safety and well-being of our society."

She added that the measure is intended to protect Danish citizens and convey a clear message: those who do not respect the country's laws are not welcome.

The minister assured that the new policy is in line with international regulations and human rights standards, but underlined that its implementation will be rigorous to guarantee effectiveness.

This development has caused extensive debates in public opinion and the political scene. Human rights groups have criticized the measure, describing it as discriminatory and dangerous for the process of integration of immigrants. Meanwhile, its supporters appreciate it as a necessary step for maintaining order and security in the country.
