What were Trump and Zelensky's comments about their meeting in Davos?

United States President Donald Trump met with his Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelensky in Davos, Switzerland, today. In a statement to reporters after the meeting, Trump said it was a good meeting, adding that there is still a long way to go before Russia's war in Ukraine ends.

"The war has to end. We hope it will end. A lot of people are being killed. It's an ongoing process. Everyone wants the war to end," the American president said briefly.

On the other hand, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that the meeting with Trump was positive, and said that was enough to describe it.

“During every dialogue, with every president, I have to protect the interests of my country. That’s why the dialogue is probably not easy ,” he said. “But today, it was positive.”

Zelensky's comments on the meeting followed his speech at the World Economic Forum, during which he criticized European leaders for their inaction when it comes to the war in Ukraine, comparing it to their behavior around Greenland in recent days. /CNA
