US Secretary of State Antony Blinken has condemned deepening military cooperation between North Korea and Russia, including arms transfers, in violation of multiple UN Security Council resolutions, the State Department said on Friday.

During a conversation with South Korean Foreign Minister Cho Tae-yul, the top US diplomat also reiterated the vital importance of the "ironclad" alliance between the US and South Korea for "promoting peace, security and prosperity around the world". , State Department spokesman Matthew Miller said in a statement.

Russian President Vladimir Putin and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un signed a defense agreement this week during the Russian leader's visit to Pyongyang.
