New York tower attack perpetrator blamed NFL for brain injuries

The man who killed four people with a semiautomatic rifle while carrying out a drive-by attack on an office tower in Midtown Manhattan was carrying a note that appeared to blame the National Football League for his degenerative brain disease, New York Mayor Eric Adams said Tuesday.

Police have identified the attacker as Shane Tamura, a 27-year-old Las Vegas resident with a history of mental illness, Reuters reports.

Tamura killed two security officers and two office workers from firms in the building before ending the massacre Monday night by shooting himself in the chest on the 33rd floor of the Park Avenue office tower.
