Albin Kurti, for "Financial Times": EU and USA, very soft towards
Albin Kurti

The Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, has stated in an interview for the "Financial Times" that the European Union and the USA have been "too soft" towards Serbia.

He emphasized that Serbia should stand on the side of the West against Moscow in order to give Kosovo the assurance that it is committed to the normalization of relations.

"Brussels and Washington should change their approach and give Serbia a deadline to impose sanctions on the Russian Federation and give up trying to sit on three or four benches. Once Serbia imposes sanctions on The Russian Federation, then it would be a moment when they would show that they want to integrate into the EU and Serbia without Russia cannot threaten the security of the continent. So then I could believe that they basically want peace, too. even the EU would no longer try to calm them down", said Kurti.

During the interview, Kurti declined to say whether the police would withdraw the special units from the northern municipalities, but insisted that complaints from Serbs about their presence were diminishing.

"The soft approach of the West is a consequence of the great hope that Serbia will jump into the western democratic camp as soon as possible. In my opinion, we have waited too long to still be hopeful", said Prime Minister Kurti./ CNA
