International agency warns: North Korea is seriously increasing nuclear weapons

The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) announced that North Korea is showing a very serious increase in its ability to produce nuclear weapons.

Speaking in Seoul, IAEA chief Rafael Grossi said the agency had observed a rapid increase in operations at the Yongbyon nuclear complex, including its reactor, reprocessing unit and light water reactor.

These developments indicate a significant expansion of Pyongyang's capacity to produce fissile materials for atomic weapons.

The Yongbyon complex remains central to North Korea's nuclear program, despite previous claims that parts of it had been deactivated. It was reactivated in 2021, and the IAEA has identified additional facilities alongside it. /CNA
