Massive fire at electric car giant's complex in China

A massive fire has broken out at a facility inside the complex of the well-known Chinese electric vehicle company BYD, in the Pingshan district of Shenzhen city, where its headquarters are located.

According to local authorities, the flames broke out in a building used as a parking lot for test vehicles and dismantled vehicles. At the time of the incident, thick smoke was reported in the area, while fire services quickly intervened to bring the situation under control.

Fortunately, there are no reports of injuries or fatalities. Also, the company's main production line was not affected, and the factory's activity is not expected to stop.

Authorities have launched investigations to determine the cause of the fire, which is suspected to have started during technical work by an external contractor. According to preliminary information, the incident is not related to the batteries of electric vehicles. /CNA
