Trump's statements about the Pope/Meloni: They are unacceptable

Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni has reacted sharply to US President Donald Trump's statements against Pope Leo, describing them as "unacceptable".

In a public statement, Meloni stressed that the Pope, as the head of the Catholic Church, has the right and obligation to call for peace and condemn any form of war.

She underlined that the role of the Holy Father is essential in promoting dialogue and reducing international tensions, especially at a sensitive time for global security.

The Italian prime minister's reaction comes after Trump described the Pope as "terrible", shortly after the latter criticized the US president's threats against Iran.

"I find President Trump's words to the Holy Father unacceptable. The Pope is the head of the Catholic Church and it is right and appropriate that he calls for peace and condemns all forms of war ," says Meloni.
