High prices increase poverty/ World Bank Report for the Balkans

The World Bank has today presented the report on the economy for the Western Balkans 2022.

Even for the World Bank, the war in Ukraine has curbed economic growth.

According to the report, economic growth in 2022 is expected to reach 3.2%.

In the first three months of 2022, the economy grew by 6% according to the WB, due to consumption, investments and exports.

While the labor market, according to the same report, has improved and unemployment has decreased by 11.3%.

Among other things, it is said that the increase in food prices has prompted the government to increase budget allocations to support the most vulnerable groups, such as the needy.

But this does not mean that the increase in prices will not have a negative impact on the poor. /CNA.al
