Oil exploration in Shpirag/ Bejtja: 100,000 barrels per day expected in 2028

The Deputy Minister of Infrastructure and Energy, Ilir Bejtja, says that Shell's investment to extract oil in Shpirag is expected to be finalized in 2028.

In an interview for "Euronews Albania", Bejtja stated that the investment in Shpirag has a value of 600 million euros and uses the most advanced technology to extract oil from a depth of over 5 thousand meters.

"There have been intriguing results, but not yet consolidated. Oil extraction is a difficult process. In the oil industry, it is the process of geological and seismic assessments that provide a picture of the subsurface. Some oil has started to be extracted, but it is not commercial. In 2028, it is expected that the oil will be fully commercial and we will reach Shell's expectations to extract 100 thousand barrels per day", said Bejtja.
