Massive fires in Dukat/ Ministry: Difficult hours, 50 firefighters on the ground

This Sunday, representatives from the country's institutions inspected the situation on the ground with the massive fires that have engulfed the Dukat area in Vlora.

Also present were Defense Minister Pirro Vengu and the Director of Civil Emergencies, Haki Çako.

In his speech, Defense Minister Pirro Vengu announced that the flames have spread over a wide territory and that there are currently 50 firefighting forces in the operation to extinguish the flames in this area.

"We are here in the heights of Dukat, where for several days we have actually had a situation and a fire zone that has actually risked a significant spread. Since the early hours of the morning, we have had an intervention from the air and support from the ground with personnel from the Armed Forces, the Municipality of Vlora, the Vlora Forestry Department, practically 50 people who are in operation today in this area, in order to create a perimeter and prevent the passage of this fire front to the other side of the Llogara Park. These will be difficult hours due not only to the effect of the thermometer, but also to the strong winds that the area has, so we must maintain maximum vigilance. The air support operation with Cougar helicopters will continue throughout the day so that we have all the instruments available", - said Defense Minister Pirro Vengu./CNA
