Today coincides with the 1st anniversary of the passing of the Metropolitan of Berat, His Grace Ignatius.

On this occasion, a memorial mass was held this Sunday at the Cathedral of "Saint Demetrius" in the city of Berat. Also present was the Archbishop of Tirana, Durrës and All Albania, His Beatitude Joan.

In his speech, the Archbishop emphasized the role and valuable contribution of His Grace Ignatius, Metropolitan of Berat, to the country and the Church.

The Archbishop praised the figure of His Grace Ignatius as a man who served with sacrifice and devotion.

"Today we commemorate the 1st anniversary of the departure from us of our beloved brother and fellow priest, Metropolitan Ignat. The reason that the Church commemorates and prays for all the deceased is very important. We pray for them because we love them. They have been by our side, they have served this country and this Church with sacrifices, in very difficult years. And we love and respect them for all the sacrifices they have made. We pray because God hears the prayer of the believer. We remember that we are temporary in this world, we are travelers. One day the end will come for each of us and we all need each other's prayers. If people will have death in their minds, they will never sin. Let us keep one thing in mind, that one day we will appear before God and our life, no matter how long it is, is still short before eternity", - said the Archbishop. /CNA
