The expropriation process in Lot II of Corridor 8 is entering a crucial phase, creating the conditions for the normal continuation of works on the Elbasan - Qafë Thanë road segment, one of the most problematic axes due to delays.

The State Expropriation Agency has published the request for the expropriation, for public interest, of 148 properties affected by the construction of this segment in the Miraka area, in the territory of the Librazhd Municipality. The preliminary compensation value for these properties is estimated at around 44.3 million lekë and is related to Lot II of the project.

The expropriation procedure has also been announced for 15 other properties affected by the works in Lot III of the same axis. The expropriations, together with the need to move high-voltage lines, have been among the main factors that have hindered the pace of construction and have led to exceeding contractual deadlines.

According to ARRSH forecasts, works are expected to be completed within this year in several lots of Corridor 8, and phases II, III, and V are also expected to be completed.

The phase includes the segment that starts from Labinot - Fushë and ends in the city of Librazhd, reports Scan Tv.

Phase V includes the construction of the tunnel and is divided into two sub-segments, one of which starts after the Murrashi Bridge, guaranteeing the connection between phase III and V.

Currently, 8 construction contracts are active in this direction, extending over a total length of about 26 kilometers. In the medium-term plan, within 2026, the completion of 6 other lots on the Elbasan - Rrogozhina axis, with a length of about 20 kilometers, is foreseen.

Upon full completion, the axis will function as a category B interurban road, with two lanes in each direction of movement and with a permitted speed of 90 to 140 km/h, according to the technical standards of the project./ CNA
