On the eve of the May 14 elections, journalist Ardit Hoxha stated that the CEC has allocated a fund of 2.5 billion lek, which will be used for the purchase of equipment for electronic voting in the 3 municipalities, Vorë, Kamëz and Elbasan.

Regarding the Municipality of Tirana, journalist Hoxha said in "Euronews" that the reason why it was not chosen for electronic voting could be the increase in cost.

 "The economic factor may have had an impact in Tirana. Given that Tirana is the largest municipality in the country and the combination of Tirana with another large municipality would therefore increase costs.

So, more equipment would be needed to be used for electronic voting and counting, and this factor may have influenced the CEC, starting from the fund made available by the government, which is about 2.5 billion ALL. additional budget allocated to the CEC to make the necessary tenders for the purchase of equipment to be used in the May 14 elections", said Hoxha./ CNA.al
