The High Prosecution Council today accepted the request of the High Inspector of Justice for disciplinary proceedings with the measure of "dismissal", for the magistrate Etmond Karriqi with the duty of prosecutor in the Prosecution at the Lushnje Judicial District Court and temporarily appointed Director at the Prosecution at the Court of Kukes Judicial District.

Prosecutor Karriqi was sentenced by a final decision to 2 years and 4 months of imprisonment for committing the criminal offense of "Passive corruption of judges, prosecutors and other justice officials, which constitutes a "very serious disciplinary violation".

The chair has discredited the position and image of the magistrate, has severely damaged the image of justice and has lowered the public's confidence in the administration of justice.

As a result, the High Inspector of Justice asked the High Council of Prosecution to administer the evidence presented by the ILD in this disciplinary proceeding and to accept the ILD's request for the assignment of the disciplinary measure "Dismissal from duty" to Magistrate Karriqi for disciplinary violations of provided by article 148/d, point 2, letter "b" of the Constitution and by article 104, point 3 of law no. 96/2016 "On the status of judges and prosecutors in the Republic of Albania", amended". /CNA.al
