Vetting in Albania/ VOA: More than half of the prosecutors and judges have left

In Albania, almost 70 percent of judges and prosecutors have so far undergone the re-evaluation process, also known as vetting. Of them, only less than half have been able to be confirmed in office by the Independent Qualification Commission (KPK). The data has been released by the International Monitoring Operation (ONM) in a balance of the process until the end of November.

Sipas këtyre të dhënave, janë 214 shkarkime, 230 konfirmime në detyrë, 133 vendime për pushimin e procesit të rivlerësimit nga të cilët 95 për dorëheqje dhe 38 për arsye të tjera. Pas vendimeve të Kolegjit të Posaçëm të Apelit (KPA), 3 pushime për shkak të vendimeve të dorëheqjes , janë ndryshuar në pushime për arsye të tjera, ndërsa për 6 raste të tjera është dhënë vendimi i pezullimit nga detyra.

Nga ana e tij Kolegji ka marrë 168 vendime, nga të cilat janë lënë në fuqi 123 vendimeve të KPK-së, ose gati 75 përqind të totalit të rasteve të shqyrtuara.

So far, there are 432 subjects subject to re-evaluation, for which the process has been fully completed, and of these 185 have been confirmed, 113 have been dismissed and 134 have been dismissed, of which 93 were due to resignation.

The re-evaluation process was due to be completed in June this year, but it has been pushed back to the end of 2024, giving vetting bodies time to complete the work. The decision was taken in February by the parliament, thanks to the persistence of both the United States and the EU./ VOA
