Transparency Board Decision/ Increase in the price of oil and gasoline

The Transparency Board has increased the retail prices of diesel and gasoline in the country. According to the decision taken at today's meeting, the retail price of diesel will be 215 lek/liter, while the wholesale price will be 203 lek/liter.

Meanwhile, the retail price of gasoline will be 178 lek/liter, while the wholesale price will be 166 lek/liter. The prices set by the Board will come into effect today at 3:00 p.m. and will be valid until the next board meeting.

Full decision:

The Transparency Board on April 14, 2026, at its next meeting, decided:

The retail price of the gasoil by-product of the SSH EN 590 standard shall be no more than 215 lek/liter, while the wholesale price shall be no more than 203 lek/liter.

The retail price of the SSH EN standard gasoline by-product should be no more than 178 lek/liter, while the wholesale price should be no more than 166 lek/liter.

The prices set by the Board will come into effect today, the 14th, at 3:00 PM and will be valid until the next board meeting where the changes in sales prices will be reflected.

We draw the attention of every operator of wholesale and retail sales of petroleum by-products to the obligation to implement this decision.

In case of violations found by various operators, the suspension of activity will be decided.
The Ministry of Economy and Innovation, together with the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Infrastructure and Energy, are committed to protecting the interests of Albanian consumers and preserving the principles of fair competition in the market.

EXPLANATION: Referring to Normative Act No. 1, Date 3.4.2026 “On an addition to Law No. 61/2012, “On excise duties in the Republic of Albania,” as amended, which provides that if the retail price for diesel is higher than 220 lek/liter, or for gasoline is higher than 200 lek/liter, the 80% excise duty level shall be applied. Based on the implementation of the methodology for calculating the retail sales ceiling prices, the prices are below the limit of Normative Act No. 1, date 3.4.2026, and consequently the full excise duty level shall be applied, 100%. /CNA
