Tourism does not stop/ Entry of foreigners increased by 29.3% in January-April

Touristic Albania has continued to remain a magnet for foreigners in the first four months of this year, recording a double-digit increase in the number of foreigners entering. The official data on the movement of citizens show that in January-April over 2.3 million foreigners entered the territory of the country with a 29.3 percent increase compared to the previous year.

"In April 2024, the number of Albanian citizens who entered the Albanian territory is 609,351, experiencing an increase of 11.3%, compared to April 2023. The number of foreign citizens who entered the Albanian territory is 794,129. This number has increased by 29.3%, compared to the same period of 2023", INSTAT estimates.

Meanwhile, during the month of April 2024, 1.4 million Albanian citizens and foreigners entered the Albanian territory. This indicator has undergone an increase of 20.8%, compared to April 2023. 1.4 million Albanian citizens and foreigners have left the territory of the Republic of Albania, marking an increase of 22.2%, compared to the same period of a year ago.

According to INSTAT in April 2024, the region with the highest number of foreign nationals entering Albania is the European region with 753,973 citizens, followed by America, East Asia and the Pacific, respectively with 16,699 and 5,301 citizens.

In April 2024, compared to April 2023, the entries of foreign citizens marked: increase, for personal purposes by 28.8%; • increase, for vacation purposes, visiting relatives, etc. with 30.6%; • increase, for business and professional purposes by 57.4%.

Tour operators in the country report a significant increase in visitors in these first 5 months of the year, but also for ongoing bookings. The summer season is expected to reach another point where there is an increased interest of individual and organized tourists. Italians, just like last year, remain the group with the highest number of visitors, while there is a noticeable increase in Spaniards and Germans, while Poles are at the top of the organized group.

Exits of citizens

"In the month of April 2024, 613,196 Albanian citizens are counted to have left the territory of Albania, marking an increase of 8.8%, compared to April 2023. The exits of foreign citizens from the territory of Albania during the month of April 2024 are 789,064. Compared to the same period a year ago, this indicator has increased by 35.2%", INSTAT/Monitor.al estimates.
