Sentenced to 13 years in prison for prostitution and slavery/ "Dangerous" man arrested in Tirana

The State Police has finalized the operation codenamed "FAST", enabling the capture in Tirana of a citizen declared internationally wanted by the Italian authorities.

Bekim Nikolli, 48 years old, resident of Tirana, was arrested, against whom a provisional arrest measure was imposed with the aim of extradition to Italy.

The arrest was carried out after the exchange of information between the FAST Albania and FAST Italy structures. The operational services of the Investigation Sector, within the Directorate of the Special Operational Force, made it possible to locate him in the area of ??the Agricultural Institute in Tirana.

Nikolli was declared internationally wanted after the Court of Appeal of Naples, Italy, in November 2021, sentenced him to 13 years in prison for the criminal offenses of "Exploitation of prostitution" and "Enslavement/Submission", according to Italian legislation.

According to Italian authorities, the 48-year-old is suspected of having, in collaboration with other individuals, exploited for prostitution female citizens illegally brought into Italy. He is also accused of having exercised violence against them in order to control and increase the profits from criminal activity.

Interpol Tirana is continuing legal procedures for his extradition to Italy./ CNA
