Journalist Blendi Fevziu spoke about the political developments in the country.
Invited to the show The Unexposed with Ylli Rakip, he stated that he sees the Socialist Party as the winner again in 2025, considering that he is facing an opposition that only has the former prime minister Sali Berisha, who is under house arrest, and a non-existent party like that of Ilir Meta.
Fevziu said that under these conditions, SP has an advantage to win in 2025 as well.
"I think that Rama has the biggest advantage. The opposition should see from itself, rather than addressing Rama. The opposition focuses on the parliamentary battle, but Rama moves on several levels and is much more advanced.
His tour in the diaspora, do you agree or not, the fact that an Albanian official goes to meet a community of Albanians... Rama is trying to move forward with tourism, the integration of immigrants, to inject pride for the country in immigrants, to organize in a capillary way all over the place. The problem is, the opposition is at a moment that is only concerned with the parliamentary battle.
Who will lead the PD campaign in these elections? Berisha under house arrest, who is the voice and figure of the opposition on the street? How many meetings per day does Rama have as prime minister?
I called one of the leaders of the opposition on Thursday, about tourism, today as we speak, more than 46% of the population lives on tourism. After thinking about it, we don't have any experts. So you don't have a team ready to be perceived as an alternative government. If you ask today who is the opposition, apart from Berisha, what do you mean?
They are one dimensional. In all the cases where the elections were won, there were people who, a year and a half before, were spread all over Albania, inviting people to their parties. Berisha in 92' made a trip. Nano in 97' shared power with other people. In 2005, Berisha also called the opponents. Rama called Meta in 2013, to be guaranteed. Who will be the person who will lead the opposition, the campaign?
Berisha should have remained honorary chairman and left a figure to raise the stature of a person who would go to the elections. The problem is not to leave when you lose the election, but when you hold the party hostage. The opposition is behind, this will be fatal. We do not yet know the heads of direction in the districts. I move a lot in Albania, I see many supporters of the opposition, who are demoralized.
While Ilir Meta tried to reorganize the party, but I have the impression that what happened to his party, from 2021 to 2024, LSI was non-existent. A party that does not act for three years, like that bicycle that sits for three years... LSI has been established on the basis of political clientelism and appeal to young people. Both of these she abandoned.
PD has a base. One thing is real, Albania has over 53% dissatisfied with the government and 22% support the opposition. The opposition must ask why 31% do not approach the opposition", said Fevziu./ CNA
