The Law on Investigative Commissions/"Constitutional" dismisses the

On 27.05.2024, the Constitutional Court considered in a public plenary session the request of 33 deputies of the Assembly, in the capacity of the constitutional subject no less than one fifth of the deputies, with the object: "Repeal of law no. 106, dated 21.12.2023 "On some additions and changes to law no. 8891, dated 02.05.2002 "On the organization and functioning of the investigation commissions of the Assembly". Suspension of the implementation of law no. 106, dated 21.12.2023 "On some additions and changes to law no. 8891, dated 02.05.2002 "On the organization and functioning of the investigation commissions of the Assembly".

Regarding the request for the suspension of the implementation of the law no. 106, dated 21.12.2023 "On some additions and changes to law no. 8891, dated 02.05.2002 "On the organization and functioning of investigative commissions of the Assembly", the Court, after hearing the claims of the parties in the plenary session, assessed that the request for the suspension of the implementation of the law does not meet the criteria defined in Article 45 of Law no. 8577, dated 10.02.2000 "On the organization and functioning of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Albania", amended, in relation to irreparable consequences and urgency, in the conditions where the Court has accepted the petitioner's request for acceleration and the judgment on the merits of the case is expected be finished soon.

For the above, the body of judges of the Constitutional Court, by majority vote,

DECIDE:

- Dismissal of the request for the suspension of the implementation of the law no. 106, dated 21.12.2023 "On some additions and changes to law no. 8891, dated 02.05.2002 "On the organization and functioning of the investigation commissions of the Assembly"./ CNA
