New investments for sports infrastructure/ Manastirliu: We will involve more

The Minister of Education and Sports, Ogerta Manastirliu, participated in the General Assembly of the Albanian Football Federation, where she expressed her appreciation and support for the achievements and future plans in the sport of football.

"In this year full of sports activities, the qualification of the Albanian National Team in the 2024 European Football Championship is undoubtedly an extraordinary achievement. What I guarantee you is the support for the National Team, which this year will be a dedicated support for the European Championship, but also for football as a whole. I wish many successes and the most positive results that make us all proud," Minister Manastirliu said.

In her speech, the minister focused on the support that the Albanian government and the Ministry of Education and Sports have given to sports as a whole and to football in particular. She mentioned some of the projects and programs carried out during the last year and those that are expected to be intensified in the future, in the framework of the development of football in Albania, especially for young people, where one of the most ambitious projects of the Albanian government is the opening of the academy of football in Durrës, which will also be a station of Manchester City football club. This academy will open this year and is expected to bring a great innovation in the development of youth football.

"Investments in sports infrastructure are important and we are multiplying them with new projects. With the agreement we signed with the Albanian Development Fund, we will build three new stadiums in Durrës, Vlorë and Korçë, the work on which is expected to start soon", added Manastirliu.

The Minister of Education and Sports also focused on the continuous support of the government and the Ministry of Education for the inclusion of as many children as possible in sports activities through the project Sports Teams in Schools and the project "Football for the Nation".

"More than 12,000 children have been involved in the 'School Sports Teams' project, while 'Football in Schools' foresees the involvement of more than 23,000 children in football and our common objective is to involve as many children as possible in sports ", Minister Manastirliu said.

At the end, the President of the AFL, Armando Duka, presented Minister Manastirliu with the T-shirt of the national football team that will represent us in "Euro 2024"./ CNA
