The Union of Judges has reacted after placing explosives in front of the door of the apartment of judge Tonin Stërkaj, in the city of Shkodra.

The Union of Judges says that this is a treacherous and cowardly attack that aims not only to intimidate the magistrates, but to violate the order and public safety.

The Union of Judges demands action from the law enforcement bodies for the criminal act and expresses support for the Shkodra judge.

The Union of Judges of Albania, as the largest voluntary group, whose main purpose is to protect the rights of judges in the Republic of Albania, expresses its concern regarding the criminal event that occurred yesterday, in the early hours of the morning in the city of Shkodra, where a quantity of explosives exploded at the door of the apartment of our colleague, judge Mr. Tonin Sterkaj.

The Union of Judges of Albania wishes that our colleague Tonin Sterkaj and his family members are well and expresses the support of all the members of the judges towards their colleague Mr. Sterkaj.

The Union of Judges of Albania strongly condemns this ugly criminal act, which is directed not only at the colleague judge Mr. Tonin Sterkaj but also at all magistrates (judges and prosecutors) in the Republic of Albania, who with dedication and under conditions of an extremely high workload, media and political pressure, they try every day to give justice.

The Union of Judges of Albania emphasizes that this treacherous and brazen attack is aimed not only at intimidating magistrates but also at violating public order and security, as well as strengthening the rule of law and the rule of law in our country!

The Union of Judges of Albania asks the law-enforcement bodies to act faster than in previous cases, to identify, catch and bring to criminal responsibility every possible author of this ugly criminal action, giving a special message that, the magistrates in the Republic of Albania have the maximum support of the State, to carry out their duty in a calm manner without endangering their lives, health, property and those of their family members from crime, as one of the basic conditions for strengthening the law, the state of of law and prosperity of the country.

Finally, the Union of Judges of Albania conveys once again its maximum commitment to cooperate with state bodies, in defense of the constitutional principles of the separation of powers, the independence of the courts, guaranteeing the rights and freedoms of judges in the Republic of Albania as well as the uncompromising fight against any negative phenomenon observed among the employees of the justice system./ CNA
