Hazardous waste treatment/ IKMT fines company in Elbasan

The National Inspectorate of Territorial Protection has fined and temporarily suspended the activity of the company "Albchrome" in Elbasan.

According to information, the measures were taken after inspections carried out by the Elbasan regional directorate of IKMT in this entity with a focus on waste management and treatment.

During the inspections, it was found that the company had stored in the premises where it operates about 318 tons of hazardous waste, resulting from the dust collection system. It is further reported that for this amount of waste that is considered hazardous, the company did not have any transfer contract for their disposal, disposal or processing.

As a result, IKMT has imposed a fine of 4,000,000 lek and has also suspended the activity until the complete disposal of the waste according to the legislation in force. /CNA
