All egg samples in Elbasan with salmonella/ Resuli raises the alarm,

The President of the Order of Veterinary Doctors Ervin Resuli has made public the results of laboratory tests for the presence of Salmonella spp. in egg samples taken from the kindergarten in Gramsh.

On 29.05.2025, ISUV published the official results of microbiological analyses conducted on 5 egg samples officially collected by the National Food Authority (AKU), Elbasan region. All samples tested positive for the presence of Salmonella spp. bacteria, according to the international standard ISO 6579-1:2017.

This result is alarming and poses a direct threat to public health, especially in cases where the product is consumed without proper thermal processing. The presence of Salmonella spp. in eggs can cause acute gastrointestinal diseases in consumers, with serious consequences for the most vulnerable groups of the population (children, the elderly, pregnant women, people with low immunity).

Resuli recommends that several measures be taken while emphasizing that the responsibility falls on the NFA for guaranteeing food safety and protecting consumer health.

In response to the interest of journalists and the public on the case of the analyzes conducted at the Food and Veterinary Safety Institute (ISUV), we clarify as follows:

On 29.05.2025, ISUV published the official results of microbiological analyses conducted on 5 egg samples officially collected by the National Food Authority (AKU), Elbasan region. Based on this situation, we recommend that:

Immediate measures should be taken to ban the marketing of this product.

Trace and isolate the contaminated egg batch.

A complete sanitary-veterinary inspection should be carried out on the farm or entity that produced or distributed the product.

Notify the consumer and ensure the disposal of the unsafe product, according to legal procedures.
