The Archbishop of Tirana, Durrës and All Albania, His Beatitude Joani, has shared a very valuable message for humanity, through an ancient story.

The Archbishop recounted a well-known case recounted by renowned psychiatrist Karl Menninger of a millionaire who suffered from anxiety about what to do with the wealth he had created and was unable to find a solution to this concern.

According to the Archbishop, such cases prove that wealth has no value when it is not shared with people in need.

“..A true story is told by the famous psychiatrist Karl Menninger. He writes this in his diary: A millionaire, with millions of dollars in annual income, had tried to kill himself. The psychiatrist tried to cure him with psychotherapy, medication and everything else. In the conversation, the rich man says: I am very anxious. I don't need this wealth, but the thought of what I will do with it kills me and it is very big. The psychiatrist asks him: And that is why you wanted to kill yourself? He says: Yes. What else should I do? He advised him to give something to charity, as a memorial for his father or for himself, but the rich man said: I have a problem, I can't give. I don't know what to do.

"So, this is the anxiety that wealth often creates. And not only anxiety, but wealth also arouses envy in others," the Archbishop said. /CNA
