Prison Police employees protested a few days ago demanding higher wages and better working conditions.

One of them, on the condition of anonymity because he is afraid of a disciplinary measure or dismissal from office, tells Euronews Albania about the vicissitudes they have been facing for years.

According to him, many prison officers are thinking of emigrating to Germany.

“Kemi një pagë minimale. 420 mij lekë (të vjetra) sikur te jemi invalidë të punësuar. Stresi është maksimal, je në punë orar pa orar. Unë banoj me qira, paguaj 250 mijë lek të vjetra, llogarite sa ngelin. Ç’të paguash më parë, këtu fillon lufta, mbas ditës së qirasë, të paguash dritat, ujin, çerdhen e fëmijës. Përditë po kërkojnë të largohen kolegë, na e kanë kthyer shërbimin në 12 orë. Po na detyrojnë të lëmë vendin tonë, detyrën patriotike dhe të ikim emigrantë në Gjermani”, u shpreh ai për Euronews Albania.

Punonjësi i Burgjeve tha më tej se kërkojnë rritje të pagës, pasi ndodhen në gjendje jo të mirë financiare.

"We ask for an increase in salary, at least the equalization of salaries and treatment with other services, our colleagues of the law enforcement, the guard, the army. We even have more difficulties than them. We are equal to the prisoner", he said further./Euronews
