Fire situation in 24 hours/ Ministry of Defense: 23 fires reported, 7 still

A total of 23 fire outbreaks have been reported in the last 24 hours, of which 7 are still active and 2 others are under monitoring.
The outbreaks have been identified in the municipalities of: Dibër, Mat, Bulqizë, Vlorë, Elbasan, Librazhd, Kurbin, Mirditë, Devoll, Korçë, Mallakastër, Fier, Gjirokastër, Selenicë, Vau i Dejës, Malësi e Madhe, Lezhë. Currently,
the following fire outbreaks remain active:

• Dibër County: In the “Lake of Flowers”, Lura National Park, the fire continues to burn, which is developing in two separate fires.
• In the village of Zall Gjoçaj, Derjan administrative unit, Mat municipality. The rocky relief is very broken and this makes it difficult to intervene with vehicles. 30 personnel from the Armed Forces are also helping.
• Vlorë County, in Sotiran, in the place called “Qafa e Shëngjergjit”, above the village of Dukat, Orikum administrative unit, Vlorë municipality, work has continued to extinguish the fire that reactivated yesterday. The fire is very intense, with bushes and ferns burning under the pine forest. The flames, aided by the wind today, also included the pine crowns, making the situation problematic. There are also 30 personnel of the Armed Forces on the ground and the Cougar helicopter, which carried out 3 missions.
• Elbasan County. Work continues to extinguish the fire that broke out in a chestnut forest in the village of Shmil, administrative unit Labinot-Mal, municipality of Elbasan, on the border with the village of Gurakuq, administrative unit Orenje, municipality of Librazhd.
• Lezha Region. Work has continued to extinguish the fire that broke out in a forest area with pine and oak trees, near the Shkopet tunnel, on the Shkopet-Burrel road. Work continues to comb the entire firebed. The operation also included a helicopter of the Armed Forces, which carried out 2 missions.
• Korça Region. In the village of Vernik, administrative unit Qendër Bilisht, municipality of Devoll. The fire has spread rapidly due to the wind and high temperatures, passing the village cemetery and going near the border with the Greek state. The work of the operational forces in the field to extinguish the fire continues.
• In the village of Dishnicë, the municipality of Korça continues to work to extinguish a fire in a bushy area.

Monitoring:
• Bulqizë: In “Livadhi e Peladhisë”, Zerqan unit, an active hearth above the village of Krajkë, in difficult terrain with bushes and oak trees.
• Fier County. In the village of Belishovë, administrative unit Qendër Dukas, municipality of Mallakastër, the hearth of the fire coming from the village of Drenova has continued to remain under monitoring.
The fires are mainly concentrated in areas with bushes and vegetation, with a total of over 269 hectares burned and about 30 olive trees.
Forces engaged: 45 firefighting vehicles and 440 operational forces were engaged in the fire extinguishing operations. Also, 157 forces from the Armed Forces with 21 vehicles and 2 helicopters participated in yesterday's operations, which carried out 5 missions. Today, 155 military forces with 21 vehicles have been engaged in the fire extinguishing operations by the Armed Forces.
Weather conditions and fire risk - No precipitation is expected throughout the territory today.
A “HIGH” risk level is expected in the regions of Kukës, Lezhë, Tirana, Elbasan, Fier, Berat, Korçë, Vlorë and Gjirokastër, while a “MODERATE” risk level is expected in all other regions.
Civil protection structures continue to be continuously engaged in managing and extinguishing fires throughout the territory. We call on citizens to exercise increased caution and immediately report any suspicious fire to the relevant authorities.
