Preliminary hearing at the Criminal Court for Ilir Meta postponed

The preliminary hearing at the Criminal Court of Kosovo against Ilir Meta, his ex-wife Monika Kryemadhi, Fatime Kryemadhi, Pirro Xhixho and Ema Çoku has been postponed to January 12th.

The leader of the PL has been in prison since October 21, 2024, where he and his ex-wife Monika Kryemadhi are accused of passive corruption, money laundering, and failure to declare assets.

Pirro Xhixho is accused of passive corruption of high-ranking officials committed in collaboration. While Fatime Kryemadhi is accused of money laundering, together with Ema Çoku.

In a statement to the media, Meta's lawyer, Kujtim Cakrani, said that today's session reached an impasse after the PL leader concluded that the evidence had not been physically identified.

Further, Cakrnai announced that Meta's defense will present some additional evidence to the Constitutional Court the next day and said that the Constitutional Court could issue its decision within this year.

" Meta concluded that the evidence recorded in the file is not physically recorded.

"We are waiting for the hearing to take place. Tomorrow we will present some additional evidence to the Constitutional Court. We believe that the Constitutional Court will express itself within the legal deadlines. Maybe even within this year ," said Cakrani.
