Legendary sports journalist and commentator Ismet Bellova passes away

Legendary sports journalist and commentator Ismet Bellova has passed away at the age of 91. According to reports, Bellova passed away shortly before midnight on December 20. His passing is a great loss for Albanian journalism, sports, and media.

Bellova has been honored with numerous titles and decorations, including: "Teacher of the People", the "Naim Frashëri" Order, Class I and Gold, the Order of Labor, Class I, "Honor of Albanian Sports", "Olympic Order", "Gratitude of Tirana", "Honor of Dibran Sports", as well as the title "Knight of the Order of the Flag".

Ismet Bellova was born on June 1, 1934, in Tirana to a Dibra family. After graduating from high school, he worked for a short time as a teacher at the Pedagogical School in Peshkopia and as the head of the Dibra Physical Culture and Sports Committee. He has published: "Great Goalkeepers", "Visare të Sportit shqiptar" (co-author), "Dictionary of Sporting Terms", "Kupa kampionëve të Europa" (co-author).

For more than 50 years, he has broadcast sports matches as a sports commentator on Albanian Radio-Television. In the summer of 2001, the International Union of Journalists honored him with an Honorary Diploma signed by the President of the International Olympic Committee. /CNA
