This afternoon, Safet Bajri, one of Shkodra's most well-known figures, was arrested by RENEA after a long search.

Two days ago, special forces conducted an operation in Shkodra to capture Bajri, but failed to stop him.

SPAK had issued an arrest warrant for Safet Bajri, while the GJKKO had imposed the security measure "arrest in prison." Bajri is accused of the murder of Fatbardh Lici in 2018, an event that had major consequences.

Fatbardh Lici is the brother of Mustafa Lici, another well-known figure and at the same time the uncle of Ibrahim Lici, who is internationally wanted for the murder of Endri Mustafa.

SPAK has brought together several criminal events in Shkodra that are suspected to have been committed by the Bajri group, which is believed to have several internal factions.

The most well-known clashes are those between the Bajrs and the Lics, two rival groups that have had tragic events that have included murders and disappearances.

One of the most serious incidents occurred in January 2018 when the assassination attempt on businessman Lulzim Kulla left several people injured, including Kulla himself. This assassination, suspected of being linked to the Bajri group, is considered the main cause of the beginning of a long conflict.

Following this event, several killings and revenge attacks have involved rival groups. The murder of Fatbardh Lici in August 2018, following the murder of a former police officer, and several suspected disappearances, including Agron Mollaj and Gëzim Hysa, have deepened the animosity between the two groups.

In the wake of these events, many people close to the Bajrës and Licës have been involved in murders and conflicts. The murders of Arjan Ferracak and Fatos Ferracak are some of the well-known events related to this clash, for which members of the two groups are accused.

This arrest of Safet Bajri has deepened suspicions about the criminal activity of his group, including serious crimes and revenge between rival families in Shkodra./CNA
