The area of ??construction permits granted in the capital has again marked a significant increase in the second quarter of the year, after the slowdown in the first, signaling a continuation of the construction boom in Tirana.

INSTAT announced that in the second quarter of 2023 in Tirana, a total area of ??about 461 thousand square meters was given, which is more than double the area given in the first quarter of this year.

Compared to the same period a year ago, the increase is 18.7%.

Historical data shows that in the second quarter, the highest area ever was given for this period (May-June).

For the 6 months, a total of 660,000 square meters of licensed area was granted, which is half of what was granted in the same period a year ago, while a record of 800,000 square meters was granted in the first quarter of 2022. (see graph: Area of ??construction permits in Tirana, TI and T II).

In value, the area granted for permission in the capital was 22 billion ALL, or about 200 million euros for the first 6 months of the year.

In the first 6 months of the year, about 62% of the area allocated for the whole country was given in Tirana.

According to INSTAT's announcement, a total of 509 construction permits for new buildings were approved in the second quarter of 2023, from 339 permits approved in the second quarter of 2022, marking an increase of 50.1%.

The area of ??construction permits approved for new buildings, in the second quarter of 2023, is 652,136 m 2, from 661,945 m 2 approved in the second quarter of 2022, marking a decrease of 1.5%.

In the second quarter of 2023, the approximate value of construction permits approved for buildings and engineering works is ALL 24.4 billion, from ALL 25.9 billion approved in the second quarter of 2022, marking a decrease of 5.8%.
