Prime Minister Edi Rama has reacted after the European Commission dropped Charles Michel's 2030 objective for EU expansion on Tuesday.

In a post on social networks while sharing this news, Rama states that "this is the reason why a bus can never become an airplane"

But according to Rama, the path towards European integration is the right one and the safest, especially when it comes to comparing with Russia.

"Yes of course, that's why a bus can never become a plane... But believe me, in the current state of affairs staying on an EU bus even without a seat is safer than sitting on a Russian plane, because the journey it may be too slow and our destination too far, but one thing is as certain as death: This bus will never crash," writes Rama on social networks.

The European Commission on Tuesday shot down Charles Michel's 2030 target for EU enlargement.

The two main institutions in Brussels clashed again after the EU executive pushed back against the European Council president's remarks on Monday that the bloc should be ready to accept new members in 2030.

"We are not focused on a date, but focused on working very closely with candidate countries to prepare to join the European Union," Commission deputy spokeswoman Dana Spinant said at a daily press conference. Tuesday.

She added that Michel had not consulted Commission President Ursula von der Leyen about the content of his enlargement speech on Monday at a summit in Bled, Slovenia.
