Fire in Belshi area puts out, endangering residential areas

After a coordinated and intensive operation, it was possible to extinguish all the fires in the Rras Administrative Unit, in the Belsh municipality. Thanks to the rapid intervention of the firefighting forces from the Belsh, Cërrik, Gramsh, Elbasan, Peqin and the Nerat Kuçovë Unit, as well as the engagement of two firefighting vehicles and AF personnel, it was possible to avoid the spread of the flames towards residential areas.

Two helicopters also participated in the operation, which intervened from the air, helping to neutralize and extinguish the fire in difficult terrain. Currently, MDSH Belsh officers and municipality employees are still on the ground, combing the area to avoid the reactivation of any hidden fires.


Meanwhile, following Albania's request to the European Union Civil Protection Mechanism, Italy has come to the aid with troops and two Canadair firefighting aircraft, which are operating in the area called "Lake of Flowers", in the Lura National Park. This intervention aims to accelerate the extinguishing of active fires in this area of high natural importance. Also through the European Civil Protection Mechanism, Greece came to the aid with two Canadair aircraft in the fire in Dukat, Vlora.

Operational forces, under the coordination of the National Civil Protection Agency, are continuing work in other hotspots.
