The government opens the competition/ Exhibition and hotel center will be built

In the former military area of ??Farka in Tirana, a multifunctional center will be built.

Specifically, the center will occupy an area of ??6 hectares, used as a parking area for helicopters.

This location is considered an important node, as it is located along the outer ring of Tirana, with a fast connection to the airport, the Blue Corridor (Adriatic-Ionian corridor connecting Montenegro, Albania and Greece), Corridor VIII (Egnatia road) as and the Port of Durrës.

Already in this area, the government has planned to build the "Expo Albania" center.

At the end of December, the National Spatial Planning Agency opened the international competition on design ideas.

"The National Agency for Territorial Planning is the Organizing Authority of the competition process, which will take place in accordance with the Decision of the Council of Ministers No. 512, dated 30.08.2023 "For the assignment of the National Agency of Territorial Planning as the central purchasing body for the implementation of the design competition for the development projects of Tirana Expo, and for an additional fund in the budget of the National Agency of Territorial Planning, approved for the year 2023" and in accordance with the rules and procedures defined in the Albanian law on public procurement", says the AKPT announcement.

The competition has two phases, the first is the application, where the candidates will present the composition of the team, qualifications, work methodology, as well as the statement of their vision for the site, including a summary of the preliminary concept.

In phase 2, the Jury will carefully examine the proposals of the selected teams and, based on the criteria of phase 2, select the winning proposal.

Spaces dedicated to events, fairs, concerts, meetings, as well as 3 or 4 star hotels will be built in the former military area of ??Farka.

Also, the Center will include several exhibition, conference and meeting rooms, auditoriums as well as all the necessary support, technical and storage spaces.

"It must be designed to be ready to accommodate exhibitions, fairs and events covering a wide range of sectors, such as: that of buildings, construction, engineering, manufacturing, real estate, management, health, medicine and pharmaceuticals, homes, gardening, gifts, cosmetics, beauty, data, IT and technology, energy, automotive, transport, media and content, 'pop' culture, electronic games, printing and packaging, security and defence, sports and wellness, travel and tourism", is highlighted in the document, among other things.
