Protests in front of Tirana City Hall/ Roads that will be blocked

The Tirana Police has announced the measures that will be taken today for the protest that will take place in front of the Tirana City Hall. 

From 09:30 until the end, there will be a temporary traffic jam on the main boulevard near Tirana City Hall.

"Due to the development of a gathering, today, at 11:00, in front of the Tirana Municipality, there will be blockages of some road segments, as well as partial blockages of some other segments depending on the movement of the gatherers.  We announce citizens that today, from 09:30 until the end, there will be a temporary traffic jam on the main boulevard near Tirana City Hall.  The police appeals to all citizens to avoid movement on these roads and use alternative routes, until the end of the rally, such as the Middle Ring and the Great Ring," the police announced. 

Today at 11:00 a.m., the 20th protest organized by the Alliance for the Protection of the Theater is expected to take place in front of the Tirana City Hall, where representatives from the PD and well-known art figures will be present. 

Hundreds of citizens, activists and representatives of the opposition will again demand the resignation of the mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj.

The protests in front of this municipality are taking place because of the scandals that happened in this institution, such as the incinerator affair and the "5D" file, where a number of directors were arrested after SPAK investigations. The citizens insistently demand Veliaj's removal from office and his prosecution.  

Even Veliaj himself was questioned by SPAK about the incinerator affair, while the court issued other security measures a few weeks ago, by order of the special prosecutor. /CNA
