Today is the 20th protest against Veliaj, demanding his removal
Protest in front of the town hall

Today at 11:00 a.m., the 20th protest organized by the Alliance for the Protection of the Theater is expected to take place in front of the Tirana City Hall, where representatives from the PD and well-known art figures will be present. 

Hundreds of citizens, activists and representatives of the opposition will again demand the resignation of the mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj.

The protests in front of this municipality are taking place because of the scandals that happened in this institution, such as the incinerator affair and the "5D" file, where a number of directors were arrested after SPAK investigations. The citizens insistently demand Veliaj's removal from office and his prosecution.  

Even Veliaj himself was questioned by SPAK about the incinerator affair, while the court issued other security measures a few weeks ago, by order of the special prosecutor.

Meanwhile, the investigations about the incinerators continue, the first group has gone to SPAK, there are two more groups. Initially, they were accused of corruption, but now the accused of the structured criminal group for an affair of around 130 million euros, for an incinerator that does not exist, weighs on the persons involved. 

Even in high temperatures, activists for the Protection of the Theater and the opposition do not retreat. 

Tensions and clashes with the police have not been missing in recent protests, as protesters have tried to get inside the town hall building.

Flares and gasoline bottles were also thrown, as well as tires were burned. Members of the opposition in the Municipal Council of Tirana have not been allowed to enter the institution of the municipality.
