SYRIZA's proposal: Albanian should become a second language in Greece

"Immigration is an issue that SYRIZA has never used as an instrument, and we are proud of the responsible stance we have taken", emphasized the head of SYRIZA, Stefanos Kasselakis, during the meeting he had in Koumoundourou, with representatives of Diaspora communities Albanians in Hellas.

During the meeting, he expressed that: "We are proud of the work we have done as a government, so that we can facilitate the community and show that we can all contribute to our country".

He added that despite the fact that the problems faced by the Albanian community in Greece are great, as a result, the insecurity that its members live every day has increased in recent years.

"One cannot talk about renewing the residence for 3 years, when this application takes 2.5 years to be accepted. In other words, we are essentially putting these people, with whom we live in the same country, in a 'hostage' situation", underlined Mr. Kasselakis.

He emphasized that at the same time the relations between the two countries should be looked at in different, more creative ways. In this context, according to the relevant announcement, he mentioned as an example the issue of choosing a second foreign language.

"Here in Greece, we don't have Albanian as our chosen language. Like Albania, it had to have Greek as its chosen language. In the entire territory of Albania", he said./ CNA
