The leader of the Republican Party, Fatmir Mediu, has commented on the decision of the US State Department, which has placed Albania on the list of countries for which immigration visa processing has been suspended.
According to Mediu, it is irresponsible to say that this measure has no connection to our country, while adding that a clear problem is related to the illegal entry of immigrants who have not returned to the US workforce.
"Statistics show that a large portion of Albanian immigrants benefited from social assistance," he said.
The media outlet expressed surprise that Serbia has not been included by the US and linked this to diplomacy.
He criticized the level of Albania's diplomatic relations, emphasizing that the country does not yet have mechanisms similar to those of other Balkan and EU countries for controlling financing after foreign investments.
"There is a lot of money coming out of the banking system that could be used for money laundering."
"The US is concerned about this and this concern is heightened," Mediu said.
He also emphasized that the US Embassy has sought legal certainty for American businesses in Albania, noting the importance of creating a clear policy for investments and financial movements from abroad.
