Clashes in the Foreign Affairs Committee/ Majority rejects opposition's

Political tensions have shifted to the Foreign Policy Committee, where Socialist Party deputies voted against the opposition's request to prioritize the consideration of four draft laws on the agenda.

The initiatives proposed by the Democratic Party aim to repeal or amend the laws on Protected Areas, the “Mountain Package”, Strategic Investments and the one on Cultural Heritage and Museums. According to the opposition, these changes are not only vital for transparency and the protection of the public interest, but also in line with the recent recommendations of the European Parliament for Albania.

Democratic Party MP Albana Vokshi, who has also articulated the request in the Committee on Integration Issues, accused the majority of rejecting dialogue and ignoring the voices of thousands of citizens who have been protesting for over 40 days.

Despite the opposition's arguments that these initiatives are directly related to the standards required by the EU for the rule of law and the protection of national assets, the socialist majority has not accepted their priority inclusion in the work calendar./ CNA
