"Renaissance 2.0"/ Rama: 1.5 billion euros for European standards

Prime Minister Edi Rama has announced the national program “Urban Renaissance 2.0”, a 1.5 billion euro investment, which aims to transform not only infrastructure, but also living standards in the country’s municipalities. In the presence of ministers and mayors, Rama called for a faster pace of work, emphasizing that citizens’ expectations have increased because society has left poverty behind.

The new program comes as a leap from the emergency phase to that of sustainable modernization. Prime Minister Rama emphasized that EU integration should not remain an abstract concept, but should be translated into improvements in everyday life.

During the presentation, it was announced that the funds will be directed towards projects for social housing, support for young couples, environmental protection and technology at the service of the community. Rama warned that the race for development does not allow for "magic recipes", harshly criticizing those who, according to him, are selling illusions.

The "Urban Renaissance 2.0" program is seen by the government as the instrument to give Albania the appearance of a member state of the European Union within this decade, placing the citizen and his growing needs at the center of policies./ CNA
