Floods in Lezha/ Four families evacuated

Minister of Defense, Pirro Vengu, held a meeting with the Emergency Headquarters in Lezha to analyze the situation created by the bad weather and the measures that will be taken in the coming hours.

After the meeting, Vengu stated that the situation remains dynamic and that the structures are at maximum engagement. He emphasized that additional resources have been requested, while army forces have been deployed in Kurbin, the area most affected by the rainfall, as well as in Lezha to prevent possible deterioration.

Meanwhile, intervention is being carried out on three bridges that have suffered damage. In the Municipality of Lezha, 4 families have been evacuated, sheltering in the vocational school dormitory. In the “Sake” neighborhood, several apartments remain at risk, but the intervention requires approval from the Ministry, as the area is protected. A critical situation is also present in Kallmet, where the reservoir has reached its maximum level.

Problems are also reported in Dragushë and Dajç, where high water channels could cause flooding if the rainfall continues. In Kurbin, a family in the village of Gjorm was evacuated, while in Mirdita the situation is calmer, with landslides and the presence of inert materials on several rural roads, where intervention was carried out during the day.

The Regional Directorate of Irrigation and Drainage announced that the hydropower plants are working at full capacity and without problems. Interventions have been carried out in the drainage canals of Kurbin and Zadrima to avoid a worsening of the situation.

OSHEE reported a power outage this morning, but the supply has been restored after technical interventions. Meanwhile, Lezha Police have increased patrols on dangerous roads to limit traffic and ensure smooth movement./ CNA
