Situation worsens due to rainfall in Mat/ Water enters schools, several homes

The heavy rainfall of the last few hours has created a serious situation throughout the territory of the Municipality of Mat. Considerable damage has also been recorded on the rural roads of the administrative units of Macukull, Derjan, Rukaj, Baz, Komsi, Ulëz and Lis, where traffic has been difficult or completely blocked.

Large flows of water have overflowed the canal beds and flooded city and village roads. Several villages in the Macukull and Derjan units are currently without electricity, while reservoirs in various areas have overflowed. Rock and debris falls have been reported on the Burrel-Milot national highway, creating a traffic hazard.

Water has entered the courtyards of several schools, while in Baz and Lis several homes have been flooded or are at risk of collapse. The fire department started the day by evacuating a family in the Baz area and is continuing work to remove excess water in the blocked areas.

Meanwhile, OSHEE teams are working to restore electricity to all affected residents as soon as possible. The national road maintenance company has also increased its capacity with vehicles and employees to guarantee traffic on the main axis./CNA
