Floods/ Boçi: The government does not declare a state of emergency, seeks

DP MP, Luçiano Boçi, spoke today about the massive floods in Durrës and Gjirokastër. In an interview with Syri TV, Boçi said that a state of emergency should be declared for this situation.

Meanwhile, he added that, as in the case of the fires, the government is not doing this because it seeks to avoid responsibility. The MP emphasized that the floods were not only caused by a natural disaster but also by corruption.

"For years and years, today surprisingly, including Gjirokastra, including Durrës, including the southern areas, they are in a situation that was not even thought of before. The catastrophe seems not to be natural, it is a catastrophe of lack of governance, government care, a catastrophe of corruption that is emerging and every day more and more that tin is coming out of the ordinary rain that has fallen and today what has been talked about in the media is affected, it has been denounced by the DP that this corrupt system has not produced material goods for society, for the citizen, but has produced catastrophes, such situations and itself, even now that it should move, the government meets, I don't know, meets for propaganda and does not take the main measure, which is what the DP requested, the declaration of a state of natural disaster. Let's not forget one thing that a few months ago the declaration of this state and the situation of the fires was requested?

And the government has not done it again. The question is why doesn't it? Why doesn't it? Because perhaps here it seeks to avoid responsibility, including it in what is happening in other countries and is part of what is happening in the region. The rest has to do with the responsibility it has after declaring this state of emergency to respond to the damages caused to citizens, because they are monetary damages, they immediately translate into monetary interventions. Something the government does not seek to do, it does not feel this type of responsibility. Not to mention here that, although we are in 2026, the government still has unpaid obligations to the citizens of Shkodra for the floods that have been caused during these years that they have been in government , "said Boçi. /CNA
