For five days, an increased influx of Albanian immigrants returning from Greece and North Macedonia to celebrate Easter with their families has been observed at the border points in the southeast of the country.

According to official data, 24,628 entries and 13,604 exits were registered at the Kapshtica border crossing, with a total of 38,232 citizens crossing this border point. Meanwhile, 15,006 entries and 15,013 exits were recorded at the Qafë-Thane border crossing, bringing the total to 30,019 citizens.

Although the flow has been high, the situation at the southeast customs appears calm and without long lines. This is thanks to the addition of counters at the entrance, which has enabled faster processing of documentation and the avoidance of waiting times for travelers.

Border authorities remain on full alert to cope with the influx that is expected to continue in the coming days, as migrants return to spend the holidays with their relatives. /CNA
