"Oil became more expensive due to the fiscal burden"/ Berisha: We will

The Chairman of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, is holding a conversation with citizens on social networks today. Before starting his speech, Berisha held a minute of silence for the passing of American Congressman, Eliot Engel.

"I would like to begin this meeting by honoring with a minute of silence one of the most distinguished, dearest and most precious friends of the Albanian nation in Kosovo, Albania, Macedonia, Montenegro and wherever they are, former Congressman Eliot Engel. In my political life, I have never known a man who has done more for our nation with as much love and passion as he could, than Eliot Engel. We honor his memory with a minute of silence. The memory of our great friend is unforgettable," said Berisha.

Among other things, the leader of the DP spoke about the price of oil, saying that the value of 224 lek/liter was a world record. According to him, oil did not increase because of the war in the Middle East, but because of the high fiscal burden imposed by the government. Among other things, he also spoke about the removal of tax-free oil for farmers, saying that thousands will go bankrupt because of this decision.

"The government of Edi Rama, unlike any other government in Europe and the world, maintained a cynical stance towards the increase in the world's highest price for oil. Oil at 224 lek per liter marked a world record price, and this is not because oil increased so much because of the war in the Middle East, but because of the higher fiscal burden that Edi Rama has imposed on each liter of oil, because of the higher tax that he takes from Albanian citizens on each liter of oil of 1.1 euros. Not only does he refuse to halve the fiscal burden or bring it to the level of the fiscal burden that Kosovo and Macedonia have so that the price of oil reaches these levels, but he announced these days that he will also remove subsidies for farmers' oil. That is, the billionaires who come and take 1 million liters of oil with their super-luxury yachts in the port of Durrës, take the oil for 60 lek per liter, while the farmer is forced to pay for the oil with "220 lek per liter, which means that hundreds and thousands of hectares of land will remain barren and hundreds of thousands of farmers will go bankrupt. This is a cynical attitude, a heartless attitude, just as the attitude towards pensioners is heartless and cynical, to whom it withheld the bonus that it was supposed to give since January, and now it has come out with a completely distorted picture, giving 8 euros to the majority and for a small part of them the bonus is a total of 18 euros ," said the chief democrat.

Regarding the upcoming elections, Berisha stated that the DP will field the most representative candidates in Tirana and throughout Albania.

/CNA
